The process

How a build works, start to finish

Everything that happens between “I need a website” and “it is live and it is mine” — the steps, who does what, what you get at each one, and how long it takes. A typical build is five weeks from deposit to launch.

  1. 1

    Tell us what you need

    Day 0You

A short request form: your business, what the site has to do, and any sites you like. It lands in your own client portal, so it takes a free account — thirty seconds, no card.

    You

    • Fill in the request form (5 minutes)

    Us

    • Reply within one business day
    • Suggest a 30-minute call time

    What you get

A reply from a real person, with a call time.

  2. 2

    Discovery call

    Day 1–3Both of us

Thirty minutes on the phone or a video call. Goals, pages, examples, what visitors need to do, and the budget — honestly, both ways.

    You

    • Bring the goal for the site and a few examples you like
    • Know roughly what you want to spend

    Us

    • Ask the questions that shape the plan
    • Write the plan up afterwards

    What you get

A written plan within two business days: pages, features, timeline, price.

  3. 3

    The agreement

    Day 3–5You

The plan becomes your agreement page in the client portal: what we are building, what is included, what is not, the timeline, the investment, and the terms. You sign with a typed name.

    You

    • Read it once, ask anything, sign with your name
    • Pay the deposit (usually 50%)

    Us

    • Answer every question before you sign
    • Open your project in the portal the moment the deposit lands

    What you get

A signed agreement you can open, print or share any time, and your own project page.

  4. 4

    Kickoff

    Week 1You

Your project page opens. We need the raw material: logo files, brand colors, photos, and the words for each page — or notes we can write from.

    You

    • Name one person who can approve work
    • Upload logo, colors, photos and copy to the project files

    Us

    • Review everything and flag gaps within a business day
    • Set the schedule, visible on your project page

    What you get

A project page with files, messages, the build log and the timeline in one place.

  5. 5

    Design direction

    Week 1Us

The homepage first — layout, type, color, tone. It appears as a live preview on your project page, not a static picture, so you see it the way visitors will.

    You

    • Give feedback within three business days

    Us

    • One direction, done properly, with reasons

    What you get

The homepage direction as a live preview, plus one round of revisions.

  6. 6

    Full design

    Week 2Us

Every page follows the approved direction. You review the whole site as a live preview and give the second round of feedback.

    You

    • Second round of feedback
    • Approve the design

    Us

    • Every page, every state, on phone and desktop

    What you get

The complete design, approved by you before a line of production code.

  7. 7

    Build

    Weeks 3–4Us

Real code: responsive on every screen, forms that actually send, fast loading, accessible, and set up for search. You watch it happen in the build log.

    You

    • Nothing — unless we ask a question

    Us

    • Daily progress in the build log
    • A staging link the moment it is worth looking at

    What you get

The finished site on a private link, ready to test.

  8. 8

    Review

    Week 4–5Both of us

Walk through every page on your own phone and laptop. Anything that is not right gets fixed. Then you approve the launch.

    You

    • Test every page and every form
    • Approve the launch

    Us

    • Fix everything you find
    • Final performance and accessibility checks

    What you get

A site you have personally tested and approved.

  9. 9

    Launch

    Week 5Us

Domain and DNS wired, the site deployed, every form and link tested live, search engines told. The balance is due at launch.

    You

    • Pay the balance
    • Tell everyone

    Us

    • Deploy, test live, submit to search engines
    • Watch it for the first 48 hours

    What you get

Your site, live on your domain.

  10. 10

    Handover

    Launch dayUs

You own it outright. The full source code, a walkthrough of how it is put together, and a written guide to deploying it anywhere — no lock-in, ever.

    You

    • Keep the walkthrough recording and the guide

    Us

    • Hand over the source and the accounts
    • A 30-minute walkthrough call

    What you get

The code, the guide, the walkthrough, and every account in your name.

  11. 11

Thirty days of fixes, then a care plan if you want one

    After launchBoth of us

For thirty days after launch, anything that is not right gets fixed at no charge. After that, a monthly care plan keeps the site updated, secure, backed up and deployed — or you run it yourself with the guide.

    You

    • Report anything odd — one message is enough

    Us

    • Fix it within a business day for the first 30 days
    • Offer the care plan, never push it

    What you get

A month of cover, and a clear choice for what comes next.
