Why it is built this way

Rebrand with one variable

Every colour derives from a single --accent value. Change it and the buttons, links, icons, logo and glows all follow.

No build step, no dependencies

Plain HTML and CSS. Nothing to install, nothing to compile, no framework to learn. Open index.html and it works.

Zero external requests

System fonts and inline SVG only. Nothing phones home to a CDN, so it loads fast and leaks nothing about your visitors.

Light and dark, automatic

Follows the visitor’s system setting via prefers-color-scheme. No toggle to wire up and no flash on load.

Image slots that hold their shape

Every image sits in a fixed-ratio wrapper, so swapping in your own never shifts the layout while it loads.

Accessible by default

Skip link, semantic landmarks, visible focus rings, labelled fields, and reduced-motion support that actually works.

Want the ones that open in the builder?

Halcyon is hand-editable HTML. Our premium templates open directly in the Kabbes builder — edit visually, then export real code you own. A free account gets you in.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. MIT licensed — use it for client work, use it commercially, modify it, ship it. No account, no email required. Attribution is appreciated but not required.

Can I use it for a paying client?

Yes, that is what MIT permits and what it was built for. You do not owe us anything, and you do not need to tell us.

Do I need an account to download it?

No. The download is a direct link to a ZIP file — nothing is gated. An account is only useful if you later want the builder or the premium templates.

What do I need to change before launching it?

The contact form posts nowhere until you wire it up, and the testimonials and client names are placeholders. The README lists everything to replace before it goes live.
